The Björkdal Mine is located in Sandfors, just outside Skellefteå, and stands as one of Northern Europe´s largest mines for gold ore extraction. A relatively young mine, Björkdal Mine boasts over 240 dedicated and skilled employees, along with around a hundred contractors. With an annual turnover of approximately 840 million SEK, the mine is owned by Mandalay Resources, headquartered in Toronto, Canada, and listed on the TSX.

As a Mining Engineer, you will collaborate with the team to oversee short and long-term mine design and scheduling to optimize mining production.

Your Responsibilities

Your main tasks include:

  • Mining design and scheduling in Deswik software.
  • Ventilation planning and media management.
  • Reporting to the corporate headquarters.
  • Data reporting to optimize mining operations.

The Bigger Picture

You will be a part of a a culture characterized by safety, collaboration, and optimism. As a Mining Engineer, you will be a part of the Mining Technical Department, collaborating with ten skilled colleagues from various nationalities, working closely with the production department. You will be reporting to the Mining Technical Manager.

Your working hours are daytime, Monday to Friday.

Our Expectations

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A university degree in mining engineering.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in MS Office.
  • Good knowledge and experience in Deswik, especially the CAD and Sched modules.
  • Good knowledge and experience in ventilation planning.

It is advantageous if you:

  • Have knowledge and experience in VentSim.

As a person, you have the ability to:

  • Influence and contribute to further development.
  • Work in a structured manner while being agile. Adapting to changing conditions and seeing opportunities in such changes is natural for you.
  • Be proactive and work cross-functionally with other units.
  • Express yourself in English, both in writing and verbally.

As public transportation is limited, it is advantageous if you have a B driver´s licence.
